Employment backgrounds are nothing that can be fixed for any size fee. It is made up of jobs you held as reported to the governement for taxes — nothing can be done about that.
Many employers are also doing credit checks on potential employees. So, if you have a poor credit score then only you can fix that. You would start by getting your credit report from the top three credit bureaus, looking at each line in your report to see if there are errors, working with the bureau to correct the errors, and then paying bills on time.
Your employment background can also include references from places where you worked. Some states restrict what former employers can say, some do not. On applications you should always provide the phone number of the Human Resources dept, not direct line to a former supervisor. The HR depts usually do not have personal feelings against you, like a supervisor may, and will provide the most generic reference.
Finally we are in a horrid economy right now, people are losing jobs, being downsized and having their work go over seas where the labor is cheap. Finding a job is tough, for everyone. Unless you know for a fact that something in your employment background is hurting you, do not blame that. Lots of people are out of work or have been forced to take a lower paying job just to work. Or government does not count people who are not getting unemployment benefits or those who are under-employed. So, when you hear the gov figures on unemployment ‘everything is great’ — it is not. Hang in there, usually more jobs open up after the first of the year.
If it isn’t a criminal issue, what kind of “status” are you talking about that’s preventing you from getting a job?
